My alarm clock is broken, and other stories.

Nothing much has happened in my life recently, apart from going to work, looking after kids and spending a bit of time with friends & lovers. I was supposed to have been going to the_maenad's party on Saturday night, but I had a headache, sore back and itchy leg, as well as being utterly exhausted from not getting enough sleep the night before (as I had to stay up to make sure Richard got his flight Collapse )). So I really didn't want to have to be social with people, and came home to sit in a corner by myself for the night. I don't need very much alone time compared to most people, but when I do need to be on my own, it's important that I do so, otherwise I just get wound up and miserable.

I have been having weird problems with the alarm clock on my phone lately - for some reason the normal alarm clock function has stopped working altogether. I've no idea why - Richard has accused me of setting it for the wrong time, but a couple of times today I set the alarm to go off in a few minutes, and watched my phone as the clock crept round to the time I'd set the alarm for, and nothing's happened. Then the alarm on the calendar function, where you can get it to remind you to make a phone call etc at a particular time, has started only sounding if the phone is already switched on. Which is absolutely useless when I want it to wake me up so I can do something. After missing work on Monday and being horrendously late for a doctor's appointment on Tuesday, I set the old-fashioned manual alarm clock I have as a backup in case my phone didn't work again today. But as it's only a 12-hour clock, this meant that we got woken up at 3am by a cacaphony of bells! Eurgh.

I have tried resetting the clock on my phone and rebooting it, and this evening I managed to get the alarm to sound correctly, so I'm hoping I'll be able to use that again from now on. I much prefer being woken up by a gentle beep which only gets louder if I don't hit the snooze button, than by a sudden and loud relentless ringing which makes me leap awake with a huge adrenaline rush and my heart thumping! You've got to love technology...

In a stunning display of incompetence, the Post Office has managed to lose the DVD I was sending johnckirk for his birthday. Luckily it was sent recorded delivery, and I am anal about keeping proofs of posting until the recipient tells me they've got the parcel. I'm now concerned about meirion's birthday present, because zie hasn't mentioned getting it, and usually would.

Apart from these news items, I have been mostly playing The Sims (about which I will write more later) and the Harry Potter Playstation game (good, but it's only taken 7 hours to complete it, so I'm glad I rented it rather than buying). I've also watched Josie and the Pussycats, which is very silly (in a good way). Life is good, but not very exciting.
