The short story is: you remember that pain in my rib that I've been grumbling about for a couple of months but didn't think was serious enough to go to the doctor with? (after all, I have joint pains and muscle aches in many other parts of me, plus a lopsided ribcage, and scoliosis on that side of my body). I was going to get round to showing it to someone, honest, but buying some new bras seemed to mostly stop it hurting.
Well, it's not a problem with my rib. It's my gall bladder.
This morning involved copious amounts of vomiting and also some screaming in agony and almost fainting. Plus several hours increasingly panicky wait for the doctor's appointment, as I gradually discounted it being food poisoning or excessively bad IBS attack, due to it being in a strange part of my body not associated with my stomach or large intestine. I now have three exciting medications to be taken at confusing intervals (the antiemetic first, wait an hour, then the antibiotic, then wait two hours, then eat, then take the antacid/rehydrating agent) in addition to all the medications I normally have, and a wait for blood test results and referral for a scan to find out whether this is "just" an infection, or if there's something more seriously wrong (like liver dysfunction). Oh joy and bliss.
I'm rapidly running out of parts of my body to go wrong. I'm not sure if this is a good thing.
